Oklo: CFD Thermal-Hydraulics Engineer

Posted 25 Oct 2026

Oklo is hiring a CFD Thermal-Hydraulics Engineer to analyse fluid flow and heat transfer in its advanced fission reactor and related systems. The person will run high-fidelity thermal-fluid simulations with commercial CFD tools and work with fast-moving design teams. The post suits engineers with a nuclear, mechanical or aerospace background who like a startup setting.

What you'll do

  • Run high-fidelity CFD analyses of thermal-hydraulic behaviour in the reactor core, reactor vessel, heat exchangers, power conversion and balance-of-plant systems
  • Develop analysis methods that build confidence in a design efficiently
  • Carry out engineering analyses covering thermal, fluid, safety, manufacturability and cost aspects
  • Work with other teams to set design requirements and give technical feedback to quick-iterating design teams
  • Document the work in clear technical reports

Who can apply

  • A Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in a technical field such as nuclear, mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • Proficiency with STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, Nek-5000 or an equivalent CFD tool
  • Strong grounding in heat transfer, fluid dynamics and thermodynamics
  • Experience with data processing, including pre-processing, post-processing and scripting
  • Preferred: nuclear or advanced reactor analysis experience, Python fluency, and familiarity with safety codes such as GOTHIC, RELAP, TRACE, SAM or SAS4A/SASSYS-1
  • The application includes a US-person / export-control status question
