PhysicsX: Senior CFD Engineer, Multiphase
PhysicsX is a deep-tech company building AI-driven simulation software for engineering and manufacturing. This Senior CFD Engineer role is for multiphase work, including particle-laden flows and coupled CFD-DEM. The engineer builds high-fidelity models that feed into AI tools and works with customers, often on site.
What you'll do
- Build complex multi-physics models from geometry clean-up and meshing to simulation, post-processing and validation against experimental data
- Develop and validate DEM models of granular and particle-laden systems such as fluidised beds, pneumatic conveying, mills, aerosols and suspensions
- Build parametric CAD models coupled with simulation pipeline automation for design optimisation and DoE studies
- Work with customers on complex engineering challenges and present results with recommended next steps
- Generate simulation datasets for training machine learning surrogate models using smart sampling
- Use the Flux cloud platform and on-premise HPC to run simulations
Who can apply
- 3-5 years of industry experience after a MEng, MSc or PhD, in a commercial rather than research environment
- Deep expertise in fluid mechanics, heat transfer and multiphase modelling, including fluidised beds and coupled CFD-DEM
- High proficiency in at least one of Star-CCM+, OpenFOAM or Fluent
- Experience with DEM codes such as EDEM, LIGGGHTS or Rocky
- Python coding and parametric CAD (NX or CATIA) are an advantage
