IIT Kanpur: Assistant Professor, Special Recruitment Drive (Mathematics and Statistics)

IIT Kanpur's Special Recruitment Drive 2026-001 fills backlog Assistant Professor posts for reserved categories, and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics is one of the departments. Fresh PhDs join on contract for the first three years and can be regularised afterwards. People with three or more years of post-PhD experience can be appointed on a regular basis. It suits Indian nationals in the SC, ST, OBC, PwD or EWS categories.

What you'll do

• Do independent research in mathematics or statistics, supported by a research initiation grant
• Teach courses in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics
• Guide students and join departmental work
• Present a seminar and go through the department and institute faculty advisory committee stages

Who can apply

• A PhD with first class or equivalent in the preceding degree, and a very good academic record throughout
• Three or more years of post-PhD experience gives a regular appointment; fewer years may lead to a contract appointment
• A category or disability certificate in the Government of India format must be uploaded
• Government or semi-government employees need a no-objection certificate at interview
